A strategic step towards driving data-driven innovation in the social economy and care sectors
The digital transformation of the social and healthcare sector requires new ways of collaborating, sharing knowledge and harnessing the value of data in a secure and responsible manner. Against this backdrop, the Robotics Institute for Dependency (IRD) has completed its integration into the datiacare Data Space, an initiative made possible by the Kit Espacios de Datos programme, promoted by Red.es and funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.
What is a Data Space?
A Data Space is a technological and governance environment that enables different organisations to share and use data securely, in an interoperable and controlled manner, whilst always respecting the sovereignty of the information.
Its aim is not merely to store data, but to facilitate the transformation of that data into useful knowledge to drive innovation, improve services, develop new predictive models, and promote research and evidence-based decision-making.
In the case of the IRD, joining datiacare – a data space specialising in the social economy and care sector – will enable it to participate in a collaborative ecosystem where information from different organisations contributes to the development of technological solutions that have a greater impact on people in need of care.
A commitment to collaborative innovation
The Institute’s involvement in datiacare will enable work to be carried out on information relating to care, support for people with dependency needs and assistive technologies, thereby promoting the development of new research and innovation projects.
At the same time, the IRD will contribute to the data platform by bringing its expertise in assistive robotics, technologies applied to long-term care and social innovation, thereby enriching a shared ecosystem that will benefit the sector as a whole. This partnership forms part of the Institute’s strategy to continue promoting technological solutions that improve independence, quality of life and person-centred care.
Datiacare is awarded the Trusted List Seal
Datiacare has recently been awarded the Data Spaces Trust List Seal, a recognition granted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation following a rigorous assessment process.
This seal certifies that the data space meets high standards of governance, security, interoperability and trust, making it a benchmark within the Spanish data space ecosystem and, according to the notification received by the IRD, the first trusted data space specialising in the social and healthcare sector to be recognised in Spain.
For the Robotics Institute for Dependency, being part of a data space with this level of recognition reinforces its commitment to responsible, ethical and socially impactful technological innovation.
