The Robotics Institute for Dependency participates in the ‘Networking Session: Germany meets Catalonia’ to promote innovation in longevity and care for the elderly
On Thursday 15 May 2025, the Robotics Institute for Dependency (IRD) took part in an international networking day organised by the WeMind Cluster, a centre for innovation and development of autonomy in mental health, ageing and neurosciences. This was in collaboration with the German entity HealthCapital Berlin-Brandenburg and the geriatric centre Residencial Palau, the host of the event.
The session took place at the facilities of Residencial Palau, in Palau-solità i Plegamans (Barcelona, Spain), and brought together a broad representation of the innovation ecosystem in health and care for the elderly, both from Catalonia and Germany. The event explored new opportunities for international collaboration on key issues such as longevity, technological innovation and person-centred care.
A space for collaboration and innovation
The German delegation was made up of diverse profiles, including hospitals, universities, healthcare digitisation cooperatives and technology companies specialising in diagnostics, remote monitoring and artificial intelligence applied to elderly care.
On the Catalan side, other organisations from the healthcare and technology sectors took part, all of them with ambitions for international growth, including the IRD.
Presentation of Laundry ID
During the event, the Institute and also the product Laundry ID, an automated and inclusive laundry management solution for care homes, were presented. This technology responds to a real need in care settings, improving operational efficiency while ensuring a more dignified and safe experience for residents.

Networking sessions like this one reinforce the importance of creating international bridges of innovation, where the exchange of knowledge and experiences can be translated into concrete solutions for the challenges we share in the field of elderly care.
