Our research article, Effectiveness of Socially Assistive Robotics during Cognitive Stimulation Interventions: Impact on Caregivers<\/a>, was earlier accepted for publication and\u00a0oral presentation at the 26th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human\u00a0Interactive Communication, RO-MAN 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n Our Research Manager, Joan Oliver delivered\u00a0an oral presentation of the article at the conference which was held in Lisbon, Portugal\u00a0from August 28 – September 1, 2017. In this research we evaluated the effectiveness of\u00a0the Socially Assistive Robotics (SAR) empowered cognitive training activity of Bingo Musical among thirty individuals with ID in multi-center trials. The results of the research confirmed a significant reduction in caregivers burden and raise a concern about the need of a specific training of the caregivers to take maximum advantage of SAR in health care.<\/p>\n This study is one of the very few studies being performed in real world scenarios about effectiveness of robotics assisted interventions and hence our presentation received positive comments from the gathered researchers.<\/p>\n It was a fruitful experience as we were able to network with prominent researchers from all around the globe and we are now working eagerly to turn these encounters into a fruitful collaboration. This research work has been supported by the Industrial Doctorate program (Ref. ID.: 2014-DI- 022) of AGAUR, Govt. of Catalonia and is partially funded by the La Caixa.
