From\u00a0<\/span><\/span>16 to 18 February 2026<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Robotics\u00a0<\/span>Institute\u00a0<\/span>for Dependenc<\/span>y<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>participat<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>7th National Congress on Dependency and Healthcare b<\/span>y\u00a0<\/span>Alimark<\/span>et<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, held at\u00a0<\/span><\/span>IFEMA Madrid<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, as part of HIP 2026. The meeting brought together professionals from the sector to discuss a question that is as direct as it is necessary:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>can technology furthe<\/span>r\u00a0<\/span>humani<\/span>se<\/span>\u00a0care?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Far from proposing a theoretical debate, the conference\u00a0<\/span>opened up<\/span>\u00a0a space for practical reflection on how\u00a0<\/span>digitisation<\/span>, robotics and other technological advances can contribute to\u00a0<\/span>professionalising<\/span>\u00a0social and health care without losing sight of what is essential: people.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this context, IRD Deputy Director\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Jordi\u00a0<\/span>Cerezuela<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0moderated the panel\u00a0<\/span>discussion<\/span>\u00a0\u2018<\/span><\/span>Social and healthcare technology. Success\u00a0<\/span>stories<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0in his capacity as director of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ave Maria Foundation<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. This was a space for dialogue with leading figures in the sector and professionals from different fields, in which real experiences were shared on how innovation is already having a tangible impact on\u00a0<\/span>centres<\/span>\u00a0and on the lives of people in situations of dependency.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The shared vision was clear and widely agreed upon:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0technology does not replace\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>care,<\/span>\u00a0it enhances it<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. It automates processes,\u00a0<\/span>optimises<\/span>\u00a0resources\u00a0<\/span>and, above all, frees<\/span>\u00a0up professional time to devote to what is\u00a0<\/span>truly important<\/span>: more\u00a0<\/span>personalised<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>closer<\/span>\u00a0and more\u00a0<\/span>humane<\/span>\u00a0care. In this sense, innovation only makes sense when it translates into\u00a0<\/span><\/span>measurable well-being for people<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the session, our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Temi<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>robot\u00a0<\/span>accompanied<\/span>\u00a0the presentations, providing information and supporting interaction. Its presence was not symbolic, but rather a practical demonstration that assistive robotics is already part of the current care model and can be naturally integrated into real environments.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IRD principles in action<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Person-centred\u00a0innovation<\/span><\/b>. Technology only makes sense if it responds to real needs. That is why the IRD promotes solutions \u2014 from algorithms to assistive robotics \u2014 aimed at improving the quality of life of people in situations of dependency. The round table on success stories showed how these tools are already bringing this promise closer to everyday reality in nursing homes and day\u00a0centres.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Professionalisation\u00a0of care<\/span><\/b>. The conference highlighted that the transformation of the social and healthcare sector requires investment, new\u00a0organisational\u00a0models\u00a0and\u00a0the intelligent\u00a0integration of technology. In line with this, the Institute is committed to training, knowledge\u00a0sharing\u00a0and applied innovation as levers for better and more efficient care.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Solid alliances<\/span><\/b>. Participation in the meeting has enabled the Robotics Institute for Dependency to <\/span>generate new connections and strengthen relationships with professionals and institutions in the social and healthcare sector<\/span><\/b>. This exchange opens the door to future collaborations and applied innovation projects based on shared knowledge and\u00a0real challenges\u00a0in care environments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
